Stoneybrook Public School

2024-2025 Safe and Inclusive School Planlearning triangle

Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.

Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.

The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.

Key Priorities and Goals

This year we are focusing on establishing school norms that reflect our shared vision and reinforce restorative practices.

We are doing this to ensure that we are creating a culture where all members of our school community are accepted, respected, and embraced for their similarities and differences.

Key Actions or Strategies

  • Provide opportunities for students to take on leadership roles through our Kindergarten Helpers, Peacekeepers, and a Student Ambassador program.
  • Building Capacity, acceptance, and appreciation through having students communicate a greeting, in their first language, during morning announcements.
  • Celebrate positive behaviours that align with our Stoneybrook Norms (Be Kind, Respect and Acknowledge Each Other, Listen to Staff, Hands and Feet Off) during video announcements, morning announcements and assemblies.

Community and Home Connections

  • Ask your child, “Who were they kind to today?” and “How did you contribute to the positive classroom climate today?”
  • During a conversation with your child ask them, “Tell me about something new that you learned.”
  • Organize community nights to facilitate opportunities for students, parents, guardians, and guest presenters to come together for a shared vision.
